Using the Creator’s Portal, music creators can upload and register their works on Ethereum via Ujo. By uploading through Ujo, creators maintain full control of their licensing agreements, the rates which they charge for them, and are given a release page where they can share their work with the world.
This version of the Creator’s Portal will run on the Rinkeby Test Network, with the plan to move to the Ethereum Main Network within three months. This will give users the ability to use Rinkeby Test Ether to register and become familiar with the application. During this time, we hope to gather feedback to iterate on before the move to the Ethereum Main Network.
Given that the Public Alpha is a preview running on the Rinkeby test network, all the music uploaded and music group profiles created with this version will be erased before we migrate to the Main Network release.
Rinkeby Ether is not real Ether and has no monetary value. We are using the Rinkeby Test Network to enable creators and users to experience and try out the platform in anticipation of the Main Network release. To sign up or make a purchase in the Public Alpha of the Creator’s Portal, pick up some Rinkeby for free here: https://faucet.rinkeby.io.
Now is the moment that creators and fans can get a glimpse into what is to come and experience the beginnings of a decentralized music economy. Beyond this release, there’s a lot in the pipeline, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it in the upcoming months. The Public Alpha works as-is, but as stated earlier, we are aiming to polish additional iterations based on feedback before the Main Network release. Furthermore, we are working on a description of the technical architecture of the platform to explain how we are using Ethereum and decentralized infrastructure. We have also spent quite a bit of time building interesting tokenized mechanisms that will empower music.
We look forward to your feedback. Enjoy the test-drive, and stay tuned!
